Been awhile since I posted a entry here, I been busy with work
and getting things setup to go back to school to earn my bachelors
degree I haven't had much time for much else. I did see an
article written in PC Magazine the other day with a quote from the
one guy that drove my passion for technology, Bill Gates:
"But we're still falling short in some areas. Education is one
example...There's so much more that can
be done to ultilize technology and engage students, help teachers,
and customize learning for each child."
-Bill Gates
I think he is dead on when he says this and I really want to work
on this while I am working with the youth at the organization I am
with now, New Beginnings Are Possible.

Here is a neat trick in Windows 7 and Vista I found, to access a "GodMode", which allows you to access all the important tools to maintain and administer windows.
1. Create a Folder (anywhere but your desktop, I simply used the C: root)
2. Rename the folder EXACTLY:
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
I think I am going to dedicate my blog as a tool to find and seek free tools on the internet to help out whoever needs it. I noticed a few free antivirus software poping up a few months ago AVG and one from our good old folks at Microsoft Security Essentials. I have been using AVG since 2005, they do a realative good job at deteching threats, however removal at times is a bit techy. What I noticed with secuity essentials is that the user interface is simpler and not much program upkeep to do since it is intuned with the microsoft automatic updates. So far I haven't had much opportunity to test Security essentials on deteching newer threats, I will keep you posted if I do...

This is my first entry in this blog. This is where I will post whatever is on my mind at the time, or cool stuff I find on the internet. Yeah I know that is what a blog is so I probably did not need to even mention any of that. I work with youth and one of the biggest challenges I face is trying to keep them safe on the internet and make sure they are on sites that are appropriate for them without costing the organization a lot of money in the process. I found two great pieces of software/services that offered great protection for no cost. (OpenDNS & ITALC) Good to see people making software for good instead of viruses and trojans used to steal and do damage.
